I thought of what Nietzsche might have said.

Young Person: Nietzsche, why must one have a strong will?
Nietzsche: If you live with a weak will, you will remain just another member of the herd. Only those with a strong will can carve their own path and become creators of their destiny.
Young Person: But the world already has predetermined paths. If I follow them, life will be easier. Why should I choose a difficult road?
Nietzsche: Do you think ease is the purpose of life? That is the mindset of a slave. Those who choose comfort remain under the control of others, mere cogs in the machine of society. But those with a strong will face challenges, overcome them, and create new values. Do you want to merely survive, or do you want to truly live?
Young Person: Then, what exactly is a challenge?
Nietzsche: A challenge is a test on your path to becoming the Übermensch. Humans only truly live when they strive to surpass themselves. Challenges force us to grow and evolve. Those who avoid them remain ordinary, stagnant, and forgettable.
Young Person: But if I have wealth and status, I can avoid most challenges. Isn’t life easier with money?
Nietzsche: Wealth and status have no inherent value. If you allow them to define you, you will become a slave to them, trapped by the expectations of others. True power lies within your own will. Control wealth—do not let wealth control you.
Young Person: But human will is weak. Even if I decide to be strong, over time, my resolve fades, and eventually, I give up. What should I do?
Nietzsche: Your will weakens because you are still trapped by slave morality—the idea that you must conform and obey. To sustain a strong will, you must embrace self-overcoming. Train yourself. Conquer your weaknesses. Welcome suffering, for it is through struggle that you become stronger. The greatest individuals are those who transform pain into power.
Young Person: But what if I face an obstacle that I simply cannot overcome?
Nietzsche: Then ask yourself, “Why must I overcome this?” Sometimes, changing direction is not an act of weakness but of wisdom. Do not endure blindly—strategize and take control of your fate. True strength is not just about enduring hardship; it is about reshaping your destiny with purpose.
Young Person: So, if I have a strong will, I can overcome any difficulty?
Nietzsche: No. Overcoming challenges is not the goal—creating new values from them is. A strong will is not about endurance alone; it is about transforming yourself. The greatest power is not in surviving hardship but in using hardship to become something greater than before.
Young Person: Then, what should I do?
Nietzsche: First, break free from herd mentality and discover your own values. Do not live by society’s expectations—live by your own will. Face challenges with courage, and never seek comfort over growth. The path to becoming the Übermensch lies in continuously surpassing yourself.
