Child of Earth brings original artwork together with personal writing about how to live. I am an artist in Japan. I make images from words that matter to me, then write about the choices, failures, relationships, and hopes behind them.

Begin with the Art
FALL. RISE. AGAIN. — a phoenix artwork about beginning again. The piece combines acrylic painting, gold leaf, lettering that glows in the dark, and resin. The article shows the finished work, the changes under different light, and the making process. It is my way of saying that a fall need not be the end of a story.
FORGE BY LIFE — how experience shapes us. This work uses fluorescent acrylic, resin, and a little Japanese lacquer. Its appearance changes with the light. The accompanying essay asks what we can learn from success, difficulty, and the experiences we did not choose.
Choose a Question
Does a result define a person? Read Success and Failure Are Not the Essence of Life for a reflection on character beyond achievement.

Find a Work to Spend Time With
Color, light, and an inner life. HEART brings reflective fragments and different appearances in light and darkness into a reflection on memory. VARIOUS uses several color fields to consider wishes that coexist and sometimes conflict.
Time and choices. Read Money Is Freedom alongside Time Is Money. Together they ask what resources make possible and which parts of life cannot be measured by earnings.
Words and relationships. Conversation: Talk and Listen includes examples of making room for another person. Say More with Fewer Words shows how a request or an artwork caption can become clearer.
You can begin with the image, read the artist’s account, and try one of the viewing questions. You do not need to agree with every interpretation. The aim is to look closely enough to find your own response.
What You Will Find Here
The essays on this site are my own interpretations and reflections. Some begin with an original artwork; others begin with a quotation or an everyday question. When I discuss another person’s words or ideas, I try to distinguish their view from mine and point to a source when available. You are free to question my conclusions and make your own.
